Blood Pressure Monitoring
Blood pressure monitoring by congregational nurses performed on the first Sunday of each month.
It is an intention and loving way of concretely showing a person that they are prayed for and cared for. This is how it works.
Volunteers at St. James create pillowcases, in a variety of colors, themes, and interests, from sports to flowers to cartoon characters. They package those pillows with a note card that says, “Rest in the thought that you are ever in the caring prayers of the St. James Family”… a bible verse from Psalm 62:1-2, and plenty of room on the back of the card to add your own expressions of care and love.
People are then encouraged to stop by the church, pick out a pillowcase that they think would appeal to a loved one who is ill or about to undergo treatment, surgery, loss, etc, and deliver it with their prayers and blessings. We also add that person to our weekly prayers in worship.
When you are sick, you quite often lay around and become attached to the things that give you comfort.
May this pillowcase be a sign for you that you are not alone in your sufferings.
